标题: Application of mathematical techniques to microbial depolymerization process of exogenous type
摘要:
Microorganisms utilize polymer fragments as carbon sources in a microbial depolymerization process. In an exogenous type depolymerization process, enzymes act on terminals of molecules for liberation of small polymer fragments. Examples of polymers subject to exogenous type depolymerization processes include polyethylene and polyethylene glycol. This study demonstrates mathematical techniques in analysis of an exogenous type depolymerization process. A mathematical model is based on the fact that a molecule becomes another molecule of smaller molecular weight after liberation of small fragment. Experimental results are introduced into an inverse problem for a degradation rate. Once the degradation rate is numerically obtained, numerical treatment of initial value problem allows us to simulate the microbial depolymerization process. This study introduces results obtained for a particular polymer.
