Title: Sustainable Electrochemical Energy Storage and Harvesting Devices
Abstract:
The demand for sustainable and reliable energy increases. Therefore it needs to be emphasized on energy storage and energy harvesting devices. It is crucial to provide an uninterrupted and stable energy supply. The interfaces between electrode and electrolyte are the keystone for a better performance of energy storage and harvesting devices. We have produced a new type of highly flexible and self-healable hydrogel electrolytes and binder free conducting electrodes with wide chemical window and high thermal stability. Supramolecular hydrogels not only display unique physicochemical properties as well as specific functionalities, but also have the capability to undergo reversible gel–sol transition in response to various environmental stimuli inherent to the noncovalent cross-linkages, thereby showing great potential as promising electrolyte in energy storage and energy harvesting devices. Power devices are fabricated using these materials which can deliver efficient energy for transportation. As the whole world moves towards the implementation of electric/hybrid vehicles, our research will make an impact to attract and contribute towards the development of energy storage and energy harvesting devices which are the backbone of the proposed transportation policies.
