Title: Manufacturing technology and challenges of textile-based RF electronics
Abstract:
With the rapid development of on-body Internet-of-Things network, the textile-based radio-frequency (RF) electronics was a hot topic in multiple subjects. All kinds of basic RF components and devices in or on textiles have been designed and manufactured. We developed textile-based RF electronics in terms of the yarn and fabric structure as well as the printing structure on fabric, and focused on the printing technology of the RF component formation on textiles. The effect of ink formulation, the ink deposition on textiles, and the curing processes on the performance of printed RF components were discussed comprehensively, and the control of the performance was generally investigated. Additionally, the bonding interconnect technology for the hybrid RF electronics on textile were studied. We will further summarize the key manufacturing challenges and trends in the printing RF components on textiles.
Biography:
Hu Jiyong, professor and PhD supervisor, received his doctoral degree in textile engineering from Donghua University in 2008. Prior to joining the Donghua university faculty in 2011, he was postdoctoral researcher in the Hong Kong polytechnic university. He has been engaged in the applying basic research in the field of textiles, especially in the biomechanical and biosensory engineering of textile/clothing, flexible fiber/textile-based electronics and the weaving technology of technical fabrics. His researches are financially funded by the national key research and development project, the NSFC, Shanghai NSFC, China post-doctoral science foundation, and enterprise joint projects. He has won the first prize of the science and technology progress award of the textile industry federation, the second prize of the textile teaching reform achievement award, and has been selected into Jiangsu "entrepreneurship and innovation doctor talent" in 2015, Zhenjiang "jinshan talent" in 2017 and other local leading talents. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers, authorized more than 20 national invention patents, and published a monograph supported by the national publishing foundation and two textbooks for textile and clothing higher education planning.
