简介: Chunhui LAI was born in 1964 in Pinghe county, Fujian province. He is a professor of School of Mathematics and Statistics, Minnan Normal University in Fujian province. He is also the Chief Editors of International Journal of Mathematics and Statistics and International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Statistics.
Professor Lai has a wide range of research interests which include Graph Theory, Functional Analysis and among others. He insisted on the problem posed by Erdos (1975) about the maximum number f (n) of edges in a graph of order n in which any two cycles are of different lengths. In 1990, he developed an upper bound for the maximum edges number, which was improved by Boros, Caro, Furedi and Yuster in 2001. In 1993, he proposed a conjecture on Erdos problem. So far, this conjecture is still an open problem. Recently, he also established a lower bound for Erdos’ problem, now it is still the optimal result. He has published 36 academic papers and was elected as a member of Fujian Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project in 1996. Due to his great research work, he was honored with the Tech Awards for Youth of Fujian in 1996 and the Tech Awards of Fujian in 2003.
He was a visiting scholar of Department of Mathematics,UniversityofScienceand Technology of China and Center for Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science,FuzhouUniversity, and a visiting professor ofAcademyofMathematicsand Systems Science,ChineseAcademyof Sciences. He chaired a session titled “Graphs & Networks IV” in the 20th Conference of the International Federation of Operational Research Societies, 2014,Barcelona,SPAIN.
