Biography: Yan-Fei Jing received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Applied Mathematics from the School of Mathematical Sciences, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), Chengdu, China, in 2005 and 2010, respectively. His research interests include iterative methods of linear systems and preconditioning techniques with applications in computational electromagnetics. His contributions involve designs of numerical algorithms and applications of algorithms: proposal of a new algorithm to solve symmetric positive definite linear equations with the algorithm name as “two-dimensional double successive projection method” (referred to as 2D-DSPM); establishment of the restarted weighted full orthogonalization method for shifted linear systems (referred to as RWS-FOM); development of a novel class of Krylov subspace projection methods based on Lanczos Biconjugate A-Orthonormalizaion Procedure (referred to as BiCOR/CORS/BiCORSTAB); development of block GMRES method with inexact breakdowns and deflated restarting (referred to as IB-BGMRES-DR). He worked as a post-doctoral fellow funded by INRIA in HiePACS team with Professor Luc Giraud from October 2011 to September 2012, and a visiting scholar (post-doctoral fellow) funded by the China Scholarship Council in the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science of University of Groningen with Dr. Bruno Carpentieri from September 2013 to October 2014. He serves as members of Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), International Linear Algebra Society (ILAS), American Mathematical Society (ACM), and in Editorial Board in Fundamental Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences. He has received many awards such as, the First Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of Sichuan Province (rank 2), Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation in Sichuan Province, the Excellent Paper Prize in the 5th and the Second Paper Prize in the 4th Contest of Outstanding Young Essay awarded by Chinese Society of Computational Mathematics, C-100 Leadership Scholarship awarded by Committee of 100. So far, he has published more than 25 papers in peer-reviewed journals and gave 15 invited talks in the international and national conferences. |
